Parents may set a password when they want to restrict access to certain types of television programs, shielding their children from material that they find objectionable. You may have set the password on your Akai television to program its V-Chip to allow or deny access to programs with certain ratings, such as General Audience, Parental Guidance, Viewers 14 and Up, or Mature Audience. Later, you might want to reset the Akai TV's password to allow someone else to control these settings.
Instructions
1. Press the Menu button on the Akai TV's remote control.
2. Press the navigation buttons to highlight Setup and then press the Enter button.
3. Press the navigation buttons to highlight V-Chip, and then press the Enter button.
4. Press the navigation buttons to highlight Change Pin, and then press the Enter button.
5. Press the number buttons on the remote control to enter your current password. The default password for a new Akai TV is 0000.
6. Press the number buttons on the remote control to enter your new password. Then re-enter the new password to confirm it. Press the Enter button. You have finished resetting the password on your Akai TV.
Tips Warnings
If you forget your pin number, press the remote control buttons in this sequence: Press the Power button, turning the TV off. Press the Mute button, 8, 2, 4, and then the Power button, turning the TV back on. This resets the password back to 0000.
