Make A Bead Lizard Key Chain

Making crafts with kids can provide as much entertainment for the adults as for the kids. Creating a bead lizard key chain provides a great opportunity for adults and kids to work together, share some fun and exercise their creativity. These little provide reminders of the fun time you had together and also make great gifts.

Instructions

Making the Head

1. Find the center of your cord by folding it in half. Slide a blue bead up to the center. You will have two strings hanging down from the bead, one on the left and one on the right.

2. Slide two blue beads onto the left string. Then, take the right string and push it through the two beads. Essentially, your strings switch sides. This is your basic stringing step that you'll keep repeating. At this point, your beads form a rough triangle.

3. Add a black, blue, black combination to the left string. Push the right string through just like in Step 2. Add two more blue beads to the left and then, push through the right string. You've just completed the head, eyes and neck.

Making the Body and Legs

4. Create the legs by sliding two blue and three purple beads onto the left string. Still using the left string only, go back through the two blue beads. This pulls the three purple beads into a triangle. Repeat on the other side, using the right string only.

5. Start to form the body by sliding one blue, one purple and then one blue bead onto the left string. With the right string, go through the beads.

6. Add one blue, two purple and one blue bead to the left string. With the right string, go through the beads. Repeat one more time.

7. Form the final row of the body by sliding one blue, one purple and then one blue bead onto the left string. With the right string, go through the beads.

8. Repeat Step 1 of this section to form another pair of legs.

Making the Tail

9. Begin making the tail by stringing two blue beads onto the left string. With the right string, go through the beads.

10. String one purple bead onto the left string and then slide the right string through. Alternate purple and blue beads until you have the tail length you want or you run out of beads.

11. Tie the two strings together and knot them at the end of the last bead. You can tie a key ring onto the end of the tail, or slide it through the nose bead.

Beads are choking hazards so be sure to supervise children with this craft.
