Bridal Expo Booth Decorating Tips

Brides often attend expos to find vendors for their dream wedding.

Bridal expos offer a potentially lucrative opportunity for those in the wedding industry to add to their mailing list, increase their visibility and find new customers. Expos allow you to meet thousands of brides in a few days. They also allow you to make personal connections to the brides and their families and demonstrate your products firsthand.

Think Big

All of your booth's decorations should be large to help you stand out from among the other exhibitors. Large displays of photographs or your product will help catch a bride's eye as she walks down the expo rows. If you're a photographer, display blown-up examples of your work. If you're a DJ, set up a sound station and a few flashing lights. If you're a caterer, hang images of the food you prepare and have samples on hand.

Create Excitement

Make your booth look like the most fun place to be with balloons, streamers, banners or lights. A trio of balloons tied together and placed at each end of your booth may create excitement and draw potential customers to your booth. It may also make them linger to discover more about your services. Hang a big banner with the name of your company on the back wall of your booth, and tie a balloon on each end to make the banner stand out.

Think Classy

Make your booth appear as upscale as possible by using cloth tablecloths instead of plastic, and having all signs printed from a computer instead of handwritten. Plastic tablecloths tend to look cheap, according to Studio 1 Productions. Also, handwritten signs look unprofessional. The decorations you use will contribute to your potential customers' perceptions of you. Paying attention to every detail may make you stand out from the the competition and turn more prospects into customers.

Give Away a Prize

Gather names for your mailing list by having brides sign up for a prize drawing. Demonstrate the prize visually with decorations that will help attract people to your booth. If possible, display the item the bride will win. For example, set up a large 3-D image of a cake if you are a baker giving away a free dessert to a lucky bride. Have brides write their names on a clipboard, and tie a colorful balloon to the clip board.

Business Information

Stock your booth with promotional materials for your business, including your card and an informational brochure. Bring more than you think you'll need so you don't run out. Place a few brochures on the table at a time and replenish them as needed. Keeping just a few brochures out at once may help your booth look more organized. Consider giving away a goody bag to people who sign up on your mailing list. Include pens and wedding to-do lists, all with your business name on them.
