Clean Rust Off Of Metal

Cleaning rust off of metal items can be a pain in the neck, especially if you live in a moist climate where rust shows up most often. However, there are a few easy ways to clean rust off of metal with common household products.

Instructions

1. Mix two parts baking soda and one part water in a container until it forms a putty-like substance. Apply the baking soda solution to the rusted metal and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the rust loosens. Then just scrub it off with a wire brush and dry the area with a towel.

2. Pour white vinegar over the rusted item and let the rust dissolve, then scrub the item with a wire brush. Wipe with a wet rag to remove any residue and then dry the area.

3. Soak small rusted items in a bowl of white vinegar overnight. When the rust has fully dissolved, simply rinse the items in water and dry them thoroughly.
