Wineries in west virginia

Wineries in west virginia

It's interesting:
"Linda and I first met about 18 months ago, when it quickly became clear to me that here was a woman of many attributes - beauty, brains, wisdom and, fortunately for Paul, a disarming love for dumb animals."

West Virginia's cool, sunny climate hosts a variety of vineyards, most of which grow French-American hybrid grapes. These grapes offer a variety of red, white and blush wines as well as a large number of specialty fruit and dessert labels. Travelers will find many West Virginia wineries spread throughout the state.

  1. Lambert's Vintage Wines

    • Located in scenic Weston, Lambert's Winery is a picturesque Gothic stone structure situated on a hillside. The tasting room features a fireplace where visitors can sample over 20 whites, reds and blushes, such as Lambert's own Catawba (a light and playful white), Icebreaker (a sweet blended red) or Blueberry Thrill (a fruity blush). All wines are available for purchase on-premises. Lambert's offers daily tours and tastings in addition to tent rentals, catering and a gift shop stocked with local West Virginian crafts.

Kirkwood offers apple, blush, fruit, mead, red and white wines in addition to vegetable wines and specialty labels (such as ginseng and grape-apple). Kirkwood's most popular vintages include Black Satin Blackberry, Red Currant, Mountain Blueberry and its special Concord Stomp, all of which are available for purchase. Tours and tastings throughout the week include cheese trays to accent the pourings. An on-site country store stocks regional crafts, wine jellies, West Virginia salsas and wine making supplies. In addition to wine, Kirkwood Winery hosts the Isaiah Morgan Distillery, which crafts rye, southern moon and grappa spirits.
