The state of New Jersey has 27 wineries, spread over 10 counties. It is the fifth largest wine-producing state in the U.S. Within the state, vineyard owners currently have planted 40 grape varieties. Pinot Noir and Riesling are common in northern New Jersey, while Sangiovese and Barbera are planted in the southern half of the state.

  1. Grand Harvest Wine Festival

    • During the the first weekend in October, Waterloo Village in Stanhope, New Jersey, plays host to the annual Grand Harvest Wine Festival. Waterloo is a small, historically accurate village with a blacksmith shop and general store. For an entrance fee, visitors can taste more than 300 wines from 24 different New Jersey wineries. Culinary pairings are also available, as well as a different live band for each day of the festival. Discounts are available for groups and advanced purchase.

    Atlantic City Festival

    • Atlantic City, New Jersey, hosts an annual food and wine festival.

      The annual Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival takes place the last week of July. The 2010 event was filled with four days of blind tastings, food battles, educational events and celebrity appearances. Tickets are available for each event, with recent appearances by chefs like Paula Dean and Guy Fieri selling for as little as $30 each and the President's wine-pairing dinner selling for $2,000 per couple. The event draws thousands of visitors and Harrah's, Bally's, Caesars and the Showboat, all of which host individual events, offer discounted rates.
