Repair A Toto Toilet Fill Valve

Replacing the fill valve is fairly easy.

If you notice a low water height inside your toilet bowl or that your toilet tank is not filling up correctly, then the fill valve inside of your Toto tank needs to be replaced. Most local hardware stores will carry a universal replacement fill valve to replace your defective one.

Instructions

1. Close the shut-off valve behind your toilet.

2. Unscrew the supply line from the toilet tank. Channel locks or a plumber's wrench will be needed to loosen the plastic nut of the supply line connected to the toilet.

3. Unscrew the plastic locking nut on the bottom side of the toilet tank. This nut holds the toilet's fill valve in place.

4. Remove the fill valve.

5. Set the new fill valve through the hole in the bottom of your Toto tank that held the previous supply valve. Make sure to place the black fill valve gasket between the tank and the base of the valve, creating a watertight seal.

6. Place the small plastic hose leading from the top of the supply valve into the opening on the top of the flush valve.

7. Place the washer over the threaded part of the fill valve on the underside of the toilet tank and thread the plastic locking nut onto this threaded piece, securing the fill valve in place.

8. Thread your toilet's supply line onto the threaded piece that you just screwed the plastic locking nut onto. You will need a pair of channel locks or a plumber's wrench to tighten the nut.

9. Open the shut-off valve, letting the tank fill with water.
