2002-ford-explorer-transfer-case

2002 ford explorer transfer case

The vehicle will not go into 4 high or 4 low. I have had someone push the buttons in the cab and I can hear the motor on the transfer case click. But I do not get a light saying it shifted or does it actually go into 4 wheel drive. Before I spend major bucks on a new or rebuilt transfer case I want to know if there are suggestions to troubleshoot this further? Thanks in advance for your suggestions Rob RobMackey, Are you aware that on this particular vehicle the system is protected by 5 fuses? 2 fuses are located in the BJB (battery junction box) under the hood and they are both (20 amp, yellow fuses). Their location number is 17 and 18. The other 3 fuses are in the CJB (central junction box inside the vehicle). These are 5 amp fuses and are in locations 12, 15, and 29. The 4WD module is mounted on the blower motor housing under the passenger side of the dash. Failure of the “4WD Control Module” is a very common failure on this particular “Explorer” NOTE: When replacing the 4WD control module, know and understand, that there are three different modules available. Vehicle build dates and configuration are the determining factors, and none of the modules are interchangeable. Thank You Amy
