Wedding anniversary gift

Wedding anniversary gift

It's interesting:
"For those of you who are attending their first Jewish wedding, there may be some customs you're unfamiliar with. Like when Paul stepped on the glass at the end ..."

Celebrating your yearly wedding anniversary shows your spouse that you still cherish and appreciate the bond that you two share with one another. Although you do not have to adhere to the traditions, there are certain gifts that are given for each year of marriage traditionally. You can purchase something unique or stick with tradition when selecting a gift for your spouse.

  1. First Year

    • The traditional thing to give your spouse on your first anniversary is something paper, such as a poem or letter. You could also consider giving homemade gift certificates, a book, decor for the home or artwork. The modern theme is plastic, which branches the gift selection to include items such as sports items, luggage accessories and household appliances. If giving flowers, send pansies for the first year.

    Fifth Year

    • The fifth wedding anniversary theme is wood. Traditional items include wooden furniture, jewelry boxes, artwork or sculptures and handcarved items like mirrors. The modern gifts include gardening tools, wooden jewelry, adopting a tree in name of your spouse, a newspaper subscription or purchasing their favorite plant. The flower for five years of marriage is the daisy.

    Tenth Year

    • Ten years of marriage deserves a mini celebration with the traditional tin theme or modern aluminum theme. Tin gifts include personalized keepsakes, jewelry, cuff links, decorative mirrors or accessories for a fireplace. The modern aluminum theme lends itself to items including fishing gear, household items, decorations for the garden and quality bakeware. The daffodil represents 10 years of marriage.

    Twenty-Five Years

    • Silver represents 25 years of marriage in both the traditional and modern sense, although gifts have changed a bit. Traditional gifts include jewelry, flatware, silverware, vases or picture frames. More modern gifts may include personalized silver keepsakes, money clips, key rings and even silver-themed flowers. The iris is the flower that represents 25 years together.

    Fifty Years

    • The fiftieth wedding anniversary is the golden anniversary. Traditional gifts include rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, pins or cufflinks. Some newer gifts might include golden picture frames, gold flowers or nuggets or golden collector's coins. The flower is the violet.

    Seventy-Five Years

    • The 75th wedding anniversary is the diamond anniversary, although many modern individuals keep it the same as the 50th and give gold gifts. Diamond gifts may include a single ring, cufflinks, earrings, a bracelet or a gold watch. You could also take a family photo to represent all the years spent together. Modern items may include gold collector's coins or a gold jewelry box.
