Restaurants & pubs in sussex county, new jersey

It's interesting:
"Sorry if the speeches drag on. Wedding receptions can be a bit like an X Factor results show. You just want to skip through the talky bits to find out ..."

Considered part of the New York Metropolitan Service Area, Sussex County is the northernmost one in New Jersey. It has rolling hills, numerous golf courses, and lots of opportunities to shop at the many retail centers in the county. Whether you are visiting the area for the first time, are on business or vacation, at some point take advantage of the many restaurants and lounges that serve food at prices which will probably fit into your budget.

  1. Andre's Restaurant

    • A new experience was available to residents in Sussex County when Andre de Waal, both the owner and chef of Andre's, opened the door of this restaurant. The decor features warm hues and exposed brick walls. Seating is available in a wine bar and two dining rooms. The wine bar is a popular place for those on their way home after a tiring workday. A popular appetizer is the house cured salmon with fresh herbs served with a cucumber salad. Or you can have what it calls "steak and cheese" which is a rare petite sirloin served with Mozzarella and sweet peppers. There are several entrees including pan roasted duck breast served with brown rice and Windy Brow Orchard's peaches and chicken saltimboca. A bottle of wine from the restaurant's wine list can make your meal complete.

    The Lafayette House

    • Romantic may be one way to describe the Lafayette House. Another may be multi-use. It's a rare restaurant that can serve the needs of a couple who chooses the restaurant to celebrate their wedding anniversary, while at the same time, it offers the best of everything to a party of 250. Start your meal with an appetizer such as "Hot Combo Delight" which is potato skins, mozzarella sticks, hot wings and hot bites or Brie with Chambord and toasted almonds that have been warmed and served with crackers. A popular entree is veal and shrimp Grand Marnier, which is medallions of veal and extra large gulf shrimp sauté-ed in a sauce made with this French liqueur, or the more mundane but delicious Scallops and Turf which is a combination of broiled sea scallops and a petite filet mignon prepared to your liking.

    Walpack Inn

    • Walpack Inn usually has a piano player to add ambiance as you have a drink at the bar. The menu may seem pedestrian, but every dish has been prepared with culinary aplomb. Start your meal with your choice of appetizer such as shrimp cocktail, baked garlic and herb goat cheese, seared ahi tuna, or Chef Pagano's soup of the day. Entrees include rack of lamb, filet mignon and lobster tail, or southern smoked ribs. There are also fresh seafood dishes on the menu each day. Walpack Inn is only open on weekends, so arrive early to avoid a long wait.
