Homemade Ways To Stop Armpit Sweat

Excessive sweating can be an irritating problem.


Excessive underarm sweating is both uncomfortable and embarrassing, especially during situations when you'd rather not sweat, such as before a big presentation or while on a first date. An abundance of toxins in the body, such as from smoking or a poor diet, is one of the main causes of excessive sweating. Use preventative measures as well as a few home remedies to help control sweating.


Preventative Measures


Taking preventative measures can help reduce armpit sweating. Nicotine and caffeine are two substances that up your metabolism rate, resulting in excess sweating. Detoxify your body to help remove toxins that cause sweating. Try reducing or giving up smoking and caffeinated beverages, reducing your intake of fatty foods and drinking plenty of water to reduce sweating. Avoiding spicy foods will also keep sweating down. Stress is another cause of excess sweating, so try a few stress-busting tricks to stop an onslaught of sweat. Use deep breathing and visualization techniques to help reduce stress as well as activities such as yoga and exercise. While yoga and exercise will make you sweat, they will also decrease stress levels in the body, resulting in less sweating during inopportune moments. Also review your skin cream choices, as many skin creams can clog pores, resulting in a buildup of sweat that finally breaks through. Wear cotton clothing that allows the skin to breathe to avoid sweating as well.


Talcum Powder


Use talcum powder to treat excessive underarm sweating. The powder absorbs excess sweat and will keep you feeling dry. Look for talc-based powders instead of cornstarch-based powders, which can cake on the skin resulting in an uncomfortable underarm mess. Wash and dry your underarms thoroughly before applying the powder and keep a small box or bottle of talcum powder in your bag or purse for use whenever you feel too sweaty. Wear loose-fitting clothing to not only keep air flowing but to also avoid talcum powder stains on clothes.


Deodorants


Deodorants and antiperspirants are among the most common remedies for excessive sweating. Look for deodorants that contain aluminum zirconium, an ingredient for controlling sweating. Deodorants that say clinical strength often contain this ingredient. Those that contain aluminum chloride also help control sweating but may result in skin irritation.


Additional Ideas


Additional ideas for controlling excessive underarm sweating include rubbing slices of potato on dry underarms and allowing to dry. You can use white and apple cider vinegar in place of deodorants and antiperspirants as effective methods for controlling underarm sweat. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a cup of water and apply to underarms to control sweating and use an antibacterial soap for bad odor from too much sweating. Bathe at least twice a day to keep clean and fresh.
