Hayward H200 gas pool heater thermostat
Is there a way of checking the thermostat on this heater with a volt ohm meter? I have the thermostat all the way up and the heater finally kicks on, but the water temp is only 79, should be near 90+ at that setting. It has been working fine untill the last couple of weeks. Also, what is the control behind the front top panel that has a copper tube going to it, with what looks like a diaphragm, adjustable knob and a microswitch? Water flow is good and strong. When I turn it all the way up it runs fine. Just do not hear the thermostat click on untill max setting. Past setting with a dot on the dial was for 85 degrees, now I am way past that just to turn on at 79 degrees. ' sounds like thermostat, if it does come on when you turn it all the way up and goes off when you turn it down, need a new one or recalibrate this one. How do you recalibrate it? that is a little hard to explain without knowing what thermostat is in there. If you take the thermostat out and then meet me on here I will talk you through it. Or you might be able to do it on your own. Basically you will look for a small calibration screw that should be on the bottom of thermostat. Best to do this outdoors around 80 degrees. Turn thermostat knob to all the way lowest temp. Now turn screw a few turns each direction until you hear a click. After hearing the click turnyour thermo knob up and see where it clicks on. Should be barely up for 80 degrees if not turn calibration a couple time (I think clockwise). Then test knob again. You want to hear the click if it is 80 degrees where you are doing this just a little up for coolest setting. Hope that made sense....
