Your brother is likely someone you hold close to your heart, even through the fights and arguments. When he graduates, whether it's from kindergarten, high school or any level of college, it's important to give him something to let him know how proud of him you are. You can find a gift that is meaningful, sentimental or just plain funny no matter what your budget is.
Graduations Before High School
Give your little brother a new toy that he has been wanting for his kindergarten graduation, or take him to eat at his favorite place, such as Chuck E Cheese. A toy, cake and a lot of praise go a long way.
Elementary school graduates are a bit older and may be into video games or more sophisticated toys. Perhaps a new video game or new ball would be appreciated. Take your brother to the movies and dinner and be sure to mention that you are proud of him.
Middle school graduates are maturing and getting ready to embark on a new adventure, meaning high school. Video games are still good choices; other ideas that have become more fitting include musical instruments, CDs or an iPod, clothes, a new skateboard or new shoes. Boys at this age are usually into sports, music, hanging out with their friends, fashion (looking good for the girls) and electronics.
High School Graduates
Depending on your budget, you can get a high school graduate almost anything. A trip or vacation to Europe, tropical islands or anywhere else he wants to go would be momentous. A new ball or skateboard for an athletic brother would be nice. Sports jerseys, tickets to a game, hats or a blanket depicting his favorite team would be useful to him as well as meaningful. Electronics, such as a flat-screen TV, video game console, personal music player or gift certificate to iTunes, would be good choices. Give him gear for his new apartment or dorm room if he's moving out.
College Graduates
For the college graduate, something representing his new degree may be appropriate. Perhaps give him a new stethoscope if he's now a doctor. If he's a lawyer, a briefcase with his monogram would be perfect. An architect might enjoy a framed picture or small statue of his favorite city, skyline or building. Use his degree for inspiration and put your own personal twist on it.
Personalized Gifts
Personalized gifts work for any occasion. They are meaningful and special and will be treasured forever. A picture frame with a special message and your favorite picture of you and your brother would be special. A plaque or crystal with a personalized message or poem would be beloved. Even something funny would work if you and your brother are close and share the same sense of humor. Think of your relationship with your brother and what he means to you, and choose something based on that.
