Food ideas for a masquerade party

Food ideas for a masquerade party

It's interesting:
"Sorry if the speeches drag on. Wedding receptions can be a bit like an X Factor results show. You just want to skip through the talky bits to find out ..."

Masquerade parties are mysterious, dramatic, and a bit glamorous. When you've spent time creating the mood with your masquerade party decor and everyone is wearing feathers and sequins, serving barbecue chips out of a bowl, no matter how pretty, will ruin the feel of the event. Something more elegant or dramatic is called for, although it doesn't need to be hard to make.

Add this to my Recipe Box.

  1. Savory Foods

    • Few things are as easy and well-received at a party as cheese. If you've used the harlequin diamond pattern in your party decor, repeat the pattern with a white cheese and a yellow cheese and serve with crackers. Avocado wrapped in prosciutto is both creamy and hearty. Spiced walnuts and almonds are a more sophisticated finger food. Seafood options can be great for a masquerade ball. Appetizers featuring salmon and cream cheese are very elegant, as is caviar, which doesn't always have to break the bank. A little caviar goes a long way, especially if you select a variety with an intense brine flavor, such as the relatively inexpensive lumpfish variety.

    Vegetarian Fare

    • Cherry or grape tomatoes skewered with a rolled up leaf of fresh basil and fresh mozzarella go for that Italian feel. If you are serving champagne, strawberries work great. Sections of dates stuffed with a pungent blue cheese tastes very interesting. Avoid the plain celery sticks and carrots. They are too mundane and ordinary for the occasion. Try mini mushroom tarts or stuffed mushrooms, tapenade, or marinated artichoke hearts.

    Desserts

    • Consider investing in a home chocolate fountain. A chocolate fountain can create a romantic feel. Dates stuffed with sweetened mascarpone cheese are simple but look good. White or dark chocolate mousse, mini cheesecake squares or strawberry ice cream drizzled with a good balsamic vinegar work as well.
