1. Dallas Zoo

   • The Dallas Zoo covers 106 acres and is the largest zoo in Texas, according to the the zoo's website. The zoo offers a variety of educational programs involving wildlife and the environment. Teachers can schedule a field trip to the zoo where children can see and learn about the different animals, schedule a ride on the Monorail Safari Tour, participate in one of the zoo's on-site educational programs or check out the endangered species carousel. The zoo requires one adult chaperon per every 10 students.

   Nasher Sculpture Center

   • An inspiring place to teach students about art, the Nasher Sculpture Center is devoted to the exhibition, study and preservation of modern sculpture, according to the center's website. It features a collection of more than 300 sculptures as well as 20th century paintings and drawings. Other highlights include a gift shop, an auditorium, and a café- overlooking the garden's fountains. The center offers docent-guided and self-guided school tours.    Museum of Nature and Science

   • The Museum of Nature and Science features a number of fun educational attractions for students. The science building at the museum is home to more than 200 permanent hands-on exhibits in the areas of physics, astronomy, health, robotics and nature. The museum also features an IMAX theatre as well as a planetarium which offers various educational programs on astronomy and space.

   Dallas Heritage Village

   • Dallas Heritage Village offers a special field trip program where students can explore the life of Dallas in the 19th century as detectives. Students will partake in a grade-specific history hunt through the village, where they will get the chance to meet characters dressed in period costumes and visit historic homes. According to the Dallas Heritage Village website, the program takes about an hour to complete. The field trip is free to teachers, but costs $4 per student and $5 per chaperon.
