According to the 2000 census, Houston is home to nearly two million people, of which approximately 28,000 marry each year. Because marriage is a rare celebration and Houston is such a big city, numerous bridal shows are held throughout the year in "The Bayou City" to help brides find vendors, get ideas and plan their big day.
Bridal Extravaganza
The Bridal Extravaganza is more than a quarter of a century old, and is generally hosted on a weekend in the middle of summer. There are more than 700 exhibits at the Houston wedding convention, each of which offer products and services to help your dream day come off without a hitch. Most show vendors take deposits and reservations for up to two years in advance, and with 19 aisles of booths, there will be many decisions to be made. The entire bridal party and groom are encouraged to attend. Tickets can be purchased online at a discount or at the door for full price. All brides in attendance are registered for major giveaways that can include free wedding venues, floral arrangements and even free honeymoons.

Houston Wedding Showcase
The Houston Wedding Showcase is a Houston bridal show that claims to offer a fresh perspective on modern weddings. In addition to multiple wedding vendors and exhibits, the Houston Wedding Showcase is home to a full runway wedding fashion show that features the latest styles and designs in bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos and wedding dresses.
All brides in attendance are placed into a drawing to receive thousands of dollars worth of prizes, and the first 500 brides receive a free subscription to Bride's Magazine. Discount tickets are available through the show's website, or they can be purchased at the door. Children under 12 are free.

Bridal Symposium Bridal Show
The Bridal Symposium carries every element of a great wedding day. Wedding planners, caterers, officiates and cake artists are just a few among many types of vendors at the show. Honeymoons and gift registries are also available at the show, as are beauty treatments for the bridal party.
The show has been a part of Houston wedding planning since 2001 and is typically held mid-April at Reliant Center. As of March 2010, the admission is $10 and includes access to three bridal fashion shows, registration for giveaways and information on hundreds of local vendors.
