Green brown wedding themes

Green & brown wedding themes

It's interesting:
"I want to welcome each of you to the wedding today. It is a true testament to the bride and groom that you have taken time from your busy schedule to come and witness their marriage. I have never seen a more beautiful bride than Linda, and Paul looks just plain proud, doesn’t he?"

Planning a wedding using the colors green and brown gives you plenty of opportunities to create different themes. You might choose a rustic woodland theme, or go with a more sleek and sophisticated look. Whichever theme you choose, green and brown together project a crisp and fresh ambiance. How you choose to use these colors will ultimately determine your wedding theme.

  1. Rustic Woodlands

    • Green and brown are versatile colors you can use in all seasons. This applies to the rustic woodlands theme, as you can choose a spring or winter look. For winter looks, try a dusty sage green with a muted brown to replicate the look of balsam pine needles and bark. Or, pair a rich, bright green with a chocolate brown to re-create the look of new leaves for a spring or summer look. Use fresh pine or rosemary sprigs in your bouquet and in the reception decor to complete the outdoorsy woodland look. Arrange bare twigs and evergreen branches in Mason jars half filled with earth-colored marbles or cleaned rocks. Use organic cotton or linen table covers in solid or vintage patterns. For an added effect, use hollow eggshells dyed different shades of green and brown and arrange them in small baskets filled with crinkled brown paper strips or raffia.

    The Garden Theme

    • The garden theme uses a variety of green-colored flowers with light, chocolate brown accents. For a simple bouquet, choose the green hydrangea. Its clusters of open-faced flowers naturally create a circular formation ideal for making simple, yet elegant bouquets. A brown ribbon with pink accents make a good addition for this bouquet. Use hydrangeas to accent your wedding cake for a springy, natural appeal. Create floral balls for table decorations by filling a Styrofoam ball with green carnations or chrysanthemums. Fill a tray with 1-inch clippings of the stems, peppering the green with brown nuts, rocks or cut-up twigs.

    Steampunk Wedding

    • A steampunk wedding theme brings back the vintage look with a quirky and mechanical feel. The groom may wear a brown military-inspired jacket with bright green trim, while you wear a Victorian-style dress complete with a laced bodice in a creamy beige brocade fabric. Whimsical top hats, old-fashioned pilot goggles, green peacock feathers, and copper metallic gears should be a running theme for a steampunk wedding. Bronze and gold are also good complementary colors for a green and brown color scheme. Create a Victorian atmosphere with a whimsical twist. Table decor should be vintage and look organic or metal, such as frosted glass candle holders with an intricate scroll design etched into the glass. Instead of the traditional floral bouquet, consider carrying a folding fan or a parasol. This type of wedding does not require your attendants to wear matching dresses, and allows for individual creativity.

    Fruity Themes

    • Late summer to autumn is the prime season for many fruits to ripen. Use them to your advantage: Display pears submerged in water in tall, straight vases on your reception tables. The natural brown spots complement the pears' green skin, which blends with your chosen colors. Top off the vases of pears with white or green hydrangeas. Use ivy green hypericum berries as a filler in your bouquet of white daisies. If using silk flowers, light brown roses accented with a cascade of green ivy and wax fruit create a good late summer bouquet. Decorate tables with cornucopias filled with green fruit, brown nuts and fall flowers such as peonies and chrysanthemums. Attach seating cards to a pear at each place setting and use polished wood dishes and plates to carry on the theme.
