It's interesting:
"Linda is an extraordinary woman. Resilient and fun-loving. If anyone had told me Paul would find a woman who loves gourmet cooking, travelling to exotic places and debating the merits of the Arsenal back four as much as him, I wouldn't have believed them. Yet here she is. You two are going to have quite a life together. "

If you want an inventive birthday, wedding, anniversary or other special event cake topper, design your own. Crafting your own topper will allow you to customize the look of a homemade or a store-bought cake. Personalize the sweet treat with a topper that reflects the event's theme or color scheme.

  1. Candy Dish Topper

    • Accent a candy-inspired cake with a whimsical bowl-inspired topper. Accent a tiered white-frosted cake with pastel-hued treats such as rock candy, candy-coated chocolates, jelly beans and sugar wafers. Complete the look by placing an elegant pedestal dish constructed out of barley candy on top of the cake. Barley candy is created by boiling a mixture of sugar, corn syrup and water. When the sweet syrup is poured into a mold, it hardens quickly, forming a durable piece of candy. If you prefer to use a real crystal or china candy dish, insert four wooden dowels into the top of the cake as support, and set the bowl on top of the wooden dowels. Fill the bowl with a mix of candies used to decorate the cake tiers.

    Hand-Painted Toppers

    • Add a touch of whimsy to a birthday, anniversary or wedding cake using hand-painted figurine toppers. Choose plain wooden doll figurines and a selection of appropriate paint colors. Using a fine brush, decorate the wooden figurines to resemble the birthday honoree or wedding couple, duplicating hair and eye color or wedding dress and tuxedo style. After the paint dries, jazz up the figurines by gluing on decorative craft items such as plastic googly eyes, flat-backed glass gems as buttons and ribbon tied as bows.

    Lollipop Top

    • Use a variety of of rainbow-hued lollipops as sweet and simple topper for a child's birthday cake. Insert the sticks of large, round, swirled lollipops into the top of the cake. Surround them with smaller lollipops appropriate colors and shapes, such as red and pink hearts, orange butterflies and yellow stars. Tie grosgrain or satin ribbon bows around the sticks, directly under the candy. Complete the design with a large number-shaped lollipop in the very center to show off the child's age. The party-goers can each take a lollipop home as a party favor.
