Apply Pippi Longstocking Makeup

Nathalie Nordquist as Pippi Longstocking

Pippi Longstocking is a lovable and clever character from Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, written in 1945-48 that made her way into the hearts of millions with the 1969 screen adaptation and onto her very own television show. Many people fondly remember her quirky pigtails, freckles and big grin. Plus, who can forget Pippi's attitude and crazy clothing? Turning your child or yourself into the infamous Pippi is easy with a little makeup and imagination, so follow these instructions and you'll be ready for that costume party in no time.

Instructions

1. Apply black eyeliner first. Pull your eye to the side with one finger and make a thick black line on the top lid, either with liquid eyeliner or pencil eyeliner so that it makes a flat straight line. Apply the same eyeliner to the bottom lid in a less dark manner and use a wet cotton swab to avoid smudging.

2. Curl your top eyelashes carefully so that they curl upwards and add to Pippi's youthful appearance.

3. Apply several coats of dark mascara to both top and bottom lashes and use an eyelash separator to separate each lash and prevent clumping.

4. Using the large round blush brush, apply pink or dark red blush to your cheekbones, creating a youthful round glow on your cheeks. Avoid your nose and other areas.

5. Using a brown or reddish liquid eyeliner, apply Pippi's sparsely spaced freckles of a pretty large size across your cheeks and a few on your nose. The triangle shape of the three freckles on your cheeks should be the most prominent but you can place smaller ones to fill in space if you are very pale.

6. Apply the translucent finishing powder all over your face carefully to seal in the Pippi look and avoiding smudging.

7. Apply pink lip gloss before you are ready to go. If you are afraid it will get on your teeth, you can put a bit of petroleum jelly on your two front teeth to prevent smudging. Lining your lips in a similar color is also a good idea.
