make welcome gift baskets
It's interesting:"Normally, an outdoor spring wedding is a risk. Will there be snow? Will it be cold? Will it be hot? Will it rain? Thankfully, today the risk paid off with no precipitation, perfect weather, and a beautiful backdrop to see the union of Paul and Linda."
Traveling to an out of town event can be stressful. It is easy to forget small supplies that would make the journey less taxing, especially when traveling with children. As families and networks of friends become geographically more distant, it is increasingly common for wedding guests to travel to ceremonies far away from their homes. As a token of appreciation, the bride and groom often assemble welcome baskets to greet out of town guests.

Instructions
1
Select a basket large enough to accommodate all of your gifts. Purchase enough baskets for each out of town guest.
2
Write a welcome letter to attach to each of your welcome baskets. You can choose to write an individual letter for each guest, or a single, more encompassing note--this will largely depend on how many out of town guests you are receiving, and how much time you have put aside for this project. In your note, thank the visitors for making the long trek to celebrate your nuptials and let them know you are looking forward to seeing them on your big day. Print the letter on sturdy cardstock.
3
Punch a hole in the top of the letter. Loop a piece of ribbon through the hole, and tie the note to the top of your basket's handle. Tie extra decorative ribbons strips to the basket handle, curling them by pulling them taut while gently scraping them with a pair of opened scissors.
4
Line the basket with decorative tissue paper, ensuring that you use enough paper to extend over the sides.
5
Fill the basket with the gifts you have selected for your guests, arranging them attractively. Include a map of the area, which you can print from the Internet or collect from the local courthouse, to help your guests find their way around. Also include an itinerary of events for the weekend (including directions to and from the wedding venue), a collection of menus from local restaurants, enough snacks for everyone staying in the room, bottled water and aspirin. For guests traveling with little ones, include a coloring book and crayons for each child--Mom and Dad will appreciate the gesture. If you have only a few out of town guests, consider adding a small personalized gift to each basket, like a bottle of merlot from a local winery for wine enthusiasts.
6
Deliver your welcome baskets to the hotel where your guests will be staying, no later than two days before they are due to arrive. This will ensure that the staff has enough time to deliver each basket before any visitors show up.
7
Call the hotel the day before guests arrive to confirm that the welcome baskets will be waiting in the appropriate rooms.
