How do i apply kevyn aucoin makeup?

It's interesting:
"There are those who accuse Paul of being unromantic. Well, all I can say, Linda, is that he'll prove them wrong on February 14 when he celebrates Valentine's ..."

Celebrity makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin enhanced the faces of Cher, Tori Amos and Janet Jackson before his untimely death in 2002 at the age of 40. Aucoin shared his secrets in his bestselling how-to books "The Art of Makeup," "Making Faces" and "Face Forward," in which he declared that there were no hard and fast rules to the art of makeup, except perhaps "Don't put lipstick in your eye." He created his own makeup line to help women achieve the dramatic eyes and lips for which he was famous.

Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Concealer
  • Triangular makeup sponge
  • Loose face powder
  • Large powder brush
  • Black eyeliner pencil
  • Sponge tip applicator
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Eyeshadow brush
  • Beige powder eyeshadow
  • Eyelash curler
  • Black mascara
  • Neutral lip pencil
  • Lipstick
  • Lip brush
  • 2-ply tissue

Instructions

  1. Eyes

    • 1

Dot concealer around the eyes, and blend gently with a triangular makeup sponge.

    • 2

Cover the layer of concealer lightly by applying a loose face powder with a brush.

    • 3

Apply black eyeliner to the inner rims of the eyes, and smudge into the lashes with a sponge tip applicator. This will bring the liner up on to eyelids, giving you a guideline to work along with your eyeshadow.

    • 4

Using a small amount of black eyeshadow and an eyeshadow brush, trace the line along your eyelashes. Work from the inner to the outer corner. Aucoin's idea here was to "smoke up the area." Apply all the way around each eye.

    • 5

Use a clean eyeshadow brush to gently bring the black shadow up into the crease of the lids. Concentrate on the outer half of the eyes, smudging the shadow gently past the lash lines at the corner.

    • 6

Use beige powder shadow on the upper eyelids and browbones, brushing a bit down the side of the nose and under each eye for highlights.

    • 7

Curl the lashes, and finish the look with black mascara.

    Lips

    • 8

Trace your natural lip line with a neutral lip pencil.

    • 9

Apply a coat of lipstick with a lip brush, working up to the pencil line.

    • 10

Using one ply of a 2-ply tissue, blot the lips.

    • 11

Brush loose powder lightly over the lips.

    • 12

Apply a second coat of lipstick with the brush, and blot with the other ply of tissue. This sets the lip color and keeps it long-lasting and smudge-free.
