Old hotels in chicago

It's interesting:
"What about the bride then, ladies and gentlemen? How wonderful she looks today. And Paul has scrubbed up quite nicely too – it’s amazing what a flannel and a bar of soap can do. But it’s a bit rude of him to have copied my outfit eh!"

Chicago is home to the Millennium Park, the Cadillac Palace Theatre, the Adler Planetarium and the Bronzeville Children's Museum. However, in 1871, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed thousands of buildings, devastating the city. Some of the area's historic hotels were untouched by the fire, while others ambitiously rebuilt from the rubble.

  1. Ambassador East Hotel

    • The Ambassador East Hotel provides guests the opportunity to dine in the hotel's renowned Pump Room. Most notably is booth one, in which both Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall had wedding cake served to them. Since 1938, movie stars and other prominent people from around the world have visited the restaurant. Covering the walls are photographs of those who have dined at the Pump Room. The hotel is about 17 miles from the O'Hare International Airport and 13 miles from Midway Airport. Guest accommodations range from the 350-square foot Traditional King room, which includes a king-size bed, to the 1,400-square foot Presidential Suite, with a balcony, kitchenette and dining room. The hotel can accommodate small pets, but a pet waiver is required.

    Hotel Burnham

    • First built in 1895 and originally known as Reliance Building, this building's glass architecture paved the way for the modern skyscrapers. Within decades of its inauguration, it fell into neglect, but in 1999, the Kimpton Hotel chain and facets of the Chicago government restored the building and renamed it Hotel Burnham. The 122 guest accommodations at the hotel offer Italian linens and hardwood furniture throughout. The hotel is non-smoking, and pets are welcome. The hotel has an on-site spa and fitness facility and offers in-room spa services and exercise program. Room service is available 24 hours a day, and the hotel serves complimentary coffee and tea in the morning and a wine service in the evening.
