How to make a fan wedding program template

make a fan wedding program template

It's interesting:
"I can’t imagine a happier way to start married life than in this wonderful venue with all their family and friends around them. Ok, so I can – but it would have to be an exceptionally big Jacuzzi."

It can be a nice gesture to give wedding guests a fan to use during a hot afternoon outdoor wedding or after a twirl on the dance floor during the reception. Savvy brides utilize fans to serve double duty and print their wedding programs on them. The wedding program may contain names of the bridal party, interesting facts about the bride and groom or a special poem. Fans can be one piece or a variety of pieces that fit together and then open up. The bride has the option to make a fan wedding program template in any shape she prefers.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer
  • Publishing software
  • Printer
  • Paper

Instructions

    • 1

Open up a new document in a publishing editing software or a word processor that allows clip art and shapes to be posted inside of the document. The size of the document should be 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches.

    • 2

Choose the desired shape from the clip art or shape menu. If the fan is going to be one large shape, any shape can be used such as a house, cruise ship, bells or a heart. For fold-out fans, use an oblong shape with the ends in a circular, triangle, box, heart or jagged shape.

    • 3

Align the shape in the document. For fold-out fans there should be at least two shapes as each piece should be approximately 3 inches wide. The length is determined by the bride.

    • 4

Insert a text box inside of the document and position it inside the shape you just created. Type in the words. For example, one section of the fan might list the wedding party, another section could feature a poem. The top section should be the names of the bride and groom along with their wedding date. Adjust the font and position as needed so that all the words fit into the shape.

    • 5

Save the template to your computer's hard drive and name it accordingly.

    • 6

Print out the template to be sure that it prints correctly. Cut out the shapes and make a practice wedding program fan to see if you need to make adjustments. Make corrections as needed until the sample meets your satisfaction.
