The 2 month wedding checklist
It's interesting:"Today we have all gathered together to celebrate Paul’s success. We lads are greatly fond of Paul, and now that he is departing from our bachelor midst we must try to comfort ourselves with the thought that we are not losing a friend, but gaining a Linda. Looking at it like that, what a bargain we’ve got."
The final two months before a wedding are when most couples scramble to finalize all their plans. If you have been planning ahead of two months then you are probably ahead of the game. However, regardless of when you start planning there is probably still a long list of wedding preparations ahead for you.
Finalizing the Location, Catering, Vendors
The first thing you are going to want to do is finalize plans with the venue. Make sure to ask about catering and pick your menus. Many banquet halls and hotels offer packages that include wedding cakes. Usually the hotel or hall will arrange a time with you and your partner to come in and do a taste test. If the location does not offer catering or cake options, you are going to have to make arrangements through vendors. Make sure to also book a rehearsal dinner time and location. You will have to provide these vendors with a final count of your wedding guests.
Check out photographers and videographers if you want professional photos and a video of your wedding. Along with the photographer you will need to book a DJ or band for the reception.
Book an officiant to perform the ceremony. Find out what will be required of you to obtain the marriage license. Make sure your officiant has a substitute just in case.
Make out checks for all of these vendors in advance so you can give them out at the ceremony.
Wedding Dress, Tux, and Wedding Party Attire
As soon as possible, the bride is going to want to find a wedding dress. It is customary to have four fittings to make sure the dress falls just right for the wedding day. Ask the shop how long it will take for any adjustments to be made for the dress before you make the purchase.
Bridesmaids will also have to go for fittings and their dresses should be purchased next.
The bride should experiment with bridal hairdos and hire a hair stylist and makeup artist. Make sure to bring your bridal hair accessories and veil to the appointments with hair stylists.
Next, check shops for prices on tuxedos or suits for the groom in the ceremony and the groomsmen.
Flowers for the bouquet and the boutonnieres should also be ordered two months in advance, along with any flowers you are using in the ceremony. Usually the bridesmaids will carry flowers as well as the bride.
Also order your wedding bands and make sure you will have them by the wedding day.
Send Out Wedding Invitations
If you haven't done so, select and send out wedding invitations and purchase place cards and thank-you notes.
Register at a store and send out a notice with the wedding invitations to your guests so you will receive presents from the guests.
You may also want to purchase a wedding guest book with the vendor that prints out the invitations.
Make sure you know your guests' travel arrangements and find out if they need transportation to and from any airports, hotel or to the wedding.
Last-Minute Details
Create a guest seating chart for the reception. It is a good idea to make sure you place relatives that get along with each other at the same tables.
Pick up your marriage license so the officiant can sign it at the wedding.
Attend any bridal showers or bachelor parties.
Write toasts for the rehearsal dinner, wedding and also write any personal vows.
Finalize honeymoon reservations and make sure you have someone to watch your pets or children while you are away.
