Savannah
With a population of nearly 350,000, including the surrounding metro area, Savannah is the third largest city in Georgia and also one of the best to call home. The tame temperature in this eastern city clocks in at an average high of only about 90 degrees and a low of a comfortable 40 degrees. These cool temperatures are largely due to the city's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, which makes for an excellent vacation spot for families. For those that are history buffs, the city offers a rich collection of early Southern architecture, and its downtown is one of the largest historic landmark districts in the country. There is also a vibrant arts scene in Savannah, including several theaters and musical performance halls. Housing is affordable, averaging just under $150,000, and its unemployment rate trails the federal rate.
Suwanee
Although it may have a meager population of just over 11,000, the small town of Suwanee is a great place to live. Housing isn't cheap, with homes averaging around the $300,000 mark, but the city's school systems are one of the best in the state. Higher education also fares well, with the town laying claim to 25 colleges, universities and professional schools within a 30-mile radius. That's why it's no surprise that three-fourths of Suwanee's residents have completed at least some college. The town is also big on conservation, having recently created four new parks.
Peachtree City
A suburb of the bustling metropolis of Atlanta, Peachtree City is a fairly well-populated suburb, claiming slightly more than 35,000 residents. The area is pretty well off, with a median home price of about $250,000 and a median family income of about $100,000. The city is home to a number of recreational facilities, including four swimming pools, sports fields and a bike track. One unique aspect of the city is that it utilizes a system of golf cart paths to facilitate transportation. This makes sense given that the small village is home to three golf courses.
