Queen's Park Hotel in Trinidad and Tobago, built in 1893, was considered the finest hotel of its time. It surpassed the other hotels offered to travelers with its modern amenities and reasonable inclusive rates. The hotel was situated adjacent to Queen's Park Savannah which presented a view of the glorious park for its guests.

1. Location

   • Queen's Park Hotel was located on the South side of Savannah, Trinidad. It was situated facing what is still known as Queen's Park Savannah and was within walking distance to the local beaches. Popular games for visitors to watch from the hotel gallery included baseball, polo, cricket football and golf.

   Cost

   • The cost per night in 1895 included an inclusive rate of $2 to $5 per night.

   Features

   • The hotel catered mainly to American and English tourists. They offered large, airy rooms and first-class cuisine for their guests.

   Quick Facts

   • The hotel was considered among the very best with all of its modern conveniences. It was among the first of two buildings in Trinidad in 1895 to have electricity and electric lights installed.

   Today

   • Queen's Park Hotel has been torn down and the site is now home to the BPTT Oil Co. Historical building. The surrounding area of Queen's Park Savannah is still thriving with hotels, a variety of shops and restaurants and is about 15 minutes from the beach. It consists of the largest open space of park area in the town of Port-of-Spain.
