Located in the Parkchester section of Bronx, New York, and 25 minutes from Midtown Manhattan, Cakes Uniquely Yours offers various cake decorating classes six days a week. Some classes include the fundamentals of cake decorating, advanced fondant, a wedding cake workshop and classes for specialty and gourmet cakes. Costs for classes range anywhere between $185 to $480.
Sugar Room
The Sugar Room, which is located 20 minutes outside of the Bronx, offers seven-week courses in cake baking and decorating. Classes meet once a week for three hours. You will learn to bake orange cupcakes, pineapple upside down cake, walnut cake, almond cake, raisin-rum cake, and a Dominican cake, which is a yellow cake with pineapple filling, a traditional dessert in the Dominican Republic. This program costs $500, plus a $250 deposit to enroll.
Cake Alchemy
Located just 12 miles from the Bronx, Cake Alchemy, which has been featured on "Amazing Wedding Cakes" of Women's Entertainment TV (WE TV) and a participant of Food Network Challenge, specializes in confectionery design, offering classes in sugar flowers, sculpting and fondant. Cake Alchemy is owned by pastry chef and cake tailor Lauri Ditunno. Prices for classes range anywhere between $200 and $500.
N.Y. Cake
Located 12 miles outside of the Bronx, the internationally recognized N.Y. Cakes offers three class sessions for a $100 fee for children and adults ages six and older. Here you will learn basic tips on learning to make fondant and gum paste- decorating with flower and design- and classes on molding, painting, and filling chocolate candies.
