Wedding anniversary yearly gift list

Wedding anniversary yearly gift list

It's interesting:
"Now, I appreciate that you're all missing the Wimbledon final to be here today, but let this wedding be a reminder that there's more to life than single events ..."

Each time a wedding anniversary comes around, a gift can mark the special occasion. A source of inspiration for gift ideas can come from various lists that may include traditional, modern, flower and gemstone options. Couples can choose which list suits them best and select a specific gift based on the suggestions.

  1. Traditional List

    • The traditional anniversary gift list has been passed down from generations. It suggests that a gift should be made of a certain material each year. For example, the first wedding anniversary should be commemorated with paper, the 15th is crystal, silver is the 25th wedding anniversary material and the 55th is emerald. A traditional suggestion is offered for the first 15 years and then every five years after that. This list has its limitations, since some material, such as ivory for the 14th year, is rare.

    Modern List

    • An updated version of the traditional list can be found in the modern directory, which suggests actual items to buy as opposed to a material the gift should be made of. A desk set is exchanged on the seventh wedding anniversary, pearls on the 12th, a musical instrument on the 24th and diamond on the 60th year. The modern list recommends a gift for every year until the 20th and then every five years after.

    Flowers

    • Flowers are suitable for all occasions, and especially so for anniversaries, each of which has been assigned a different bloom. These include geranium for the fourth year, daffodil for the 10th, a daylily to celebrate the 20th year and violet on the 50th wedding anniversary. The flower list proposes blossoms through the 15th year, followed by the 20th and 25th occasions, and then every 10 years from the 30th to the 50th. This is a good idea for couples who do not want to spend much money on an anniversary gift but still want to recognize the day in a special way.

    Gemstones

    • Gemstones are most notably associated with a person's year of birth, and the same principle can be applied to an anniversary. The gemstone list is suitable for a couple who want to exchange a piece of jewelry each year. Stones are allocated to every year for the first 15 years, then every five years up to the 75th wedding anniversary. For example, amethyst is given on the sixth anniversary, turquoise on the 11th, ruby on the 40th and alexandrite on the 55th.
