Movie couple costume ideas

Movie couple costume ideas

It's interesting:
"Wasn't the wedding ceremony beautiful? The highlight, of course, was Linda floating magically down the aisle. I'm sure we were all thinking exactly the same ..."

Movie couples can inspire costume ideas for couples, siblings or friends. These are generally costumes people choose to wear for themed parties during the Halloween season and can be made from items in your wardrobe or purchased in whole from party stores.

  1. Frankenstein and His Bride

    • Frankenstein and His Bride costumes require a lot of hairspray, makeup and spooky clothing. These costumes are usually in stock at Halloween specialty stores.

    007 and Bond Girl

    • A gentleman with a lot of swagger becomes James Bond with a sleek suit, sunglasses and a mock gun. A Bond Girl can dress up in her classiest but sexiest outfit and try speaking with a believable foreign accent.

    Juno and Paulie Bleeker

    • "Juno" costumes can be created from pretty much anyone's wardrobe. For Juno, create a fake belly (try a pillow) and add a striped shirt and jeans. For Paulie, put on short gold gym shorts, a maroon T-shirt and a gold sweatband. Tube socks and running shoes are optional.

    Jack Skellington and Sally

    • Channel "The Nightmare Before Christmas" with this couple. Sally will need a patchwork dress, a long red wig, and black boots. Jack Skellington sports a striped blazer and black pants. Some skill in makeup application is required to pull these costumes off without masks.

    The Flintstones

    • Wilma wears a bright orange bun on top of her head, a string of pearls and a white one shoulder dress. Fred, with a messy head of hair, wears a blue tie and a long orange shirt-dress with printed triangles. Shorts are an option for men who don't feel comfortable strutting in dresses.

    Santa and Mrs. Claus

    • Get a long white beard and a Santa outfit at a specialty store, or make your own with red and white fabric. Don't forget Santa's hat and belt. Mrs. Claus has more freedom with her outfit, although it should look similar to Santa's.

    Austin Powers and Love Interest

    • Austin Powers sports tacky '70s garb with his crooked teeth, glasses and odd haircut. Plenty of ruffles and velvet are recommended. Speak with your best British accent. His love interest should wear a go-go style outfit (see Heather Graham or Elizabeth Hurley in the first two "Austin Powers" movies).

Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson from Grease

    • Sandy can wear either a traditional poodle skirt and sweater, or her final outfit of red heels, leather pants and a tight-fitting, off the shoulder black top. Danny Zuko needs slicked back hair, a black leather jacket and black pants. Sing-along to a few "Grease" songs to create the full effect.

    Shrek and Fiona

    • You'll need green body paint and makeup, some medieval attire, and some long green ears. Shrek wears a brown vest over a white tunic. Don't forget Fiona's crown.

    Other Ideas

    • Character costumes such as Jasmine and Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Popeye and Olive Oyl, and Roger and Jessica Rabbit can be found in most costume stores or Halloween specialty stores. Other ideas include Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone With the Wind," Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley, Edward and Bella from "Twilight," and Lucy and Ricky from "I Love Lucy."
