Disney wedding theme ideas

It's interesting:
"I would like to say that I have a lot of admiration for Linda. She met Paul during his ‘colt’ years, and has dealt with most of his flaws. She’s a beautiful lady, and an even more gorgeous bride. I hope Paul realizes just how lucky he is. But I still don’t know how he got her to say yes because all she seems to say now is “No! Paul, no!”"

Plan your Disney wedding at one of Disney's resorts or cruise lines- you may also opt to simply put together your own wedding using a Disney theme. Play off Disney's fairy tales or characters for your "happily ever after." Your Disney-themed wedding can focus on one story or a combination of all your favorites.

  1. Cinderella

    • The story of Cinderella is a classic fairy tale that is often used in Disney-themed weddings. The bride might opt for a voluminous ball gown and tiara, with the bride's maids wearing similar--yet scaled-down--dresses in light pink or blue. The men can wear traditional black tuxedos, although the groom may consider white for a true fairy tale-look.

Host your reception in a grand ball room or castle with over-the-top decorations, including luxurious table linens, drapes, chandeliers and centerpieces. Roses and candles are typical table decorations, although ice sculptures or crystal pumpkin carriages are also fitting.

    Aladdin

    • Plan a fairy tale wedding with a hint of eastern flare by choosing Jasmine and Aladdin as your Disney wedding inspiration. Wear traditional wedding attire- you may opt to rent costumes to mimic those worn by the couple at their wedding. Jasmine and Aladdin's everyday outfits are another option.

Your invitations could include a picture of a genie's lamp on the cover with the words "Once upon a time, we made a wish." Continue the statement inside the card, such as "for true love and a happily ever after. Our wish has been granted, as we've found each other. The honor of your presence is requested as we make it official," and continue with the wedding details.

Set up food stations. Decorate them to look like a Moroccan market or use jewel-toned colors with elaborate designs. Centerpieces might include genie's lamps or figurines of Jasmine and Aladdin.

    The Little Mermaid

    • Invite your guests to join you and your fiance under the sea with a Little Mermaid-themed wedding. Model your bridal dress after the one Ariel wore or choose a mermaid-style gown. Your groom can wear a traditional tuxedo or a uniform like the one Prince Eric wore when they married. Your bridal party can wear any color you associate with your theme, such as a turquoise or green like the ocean water or red like Sebastian (the crab).

Use a specific character as the centerpiece of each table or create an underwater scene by placing fishbowls on small pedestals, with aqua-colored covers or waves. Fill the fishbowls with colorful fish, such as beta fish, or glue small plastic Little Mermaid toys inside the bowl to recreate a scene from the story.

    Classic Characters

    • Use classic Disney characters -- such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse or Donald and Daisy Duck -- to create a whimsical ambiance for your Disney-themed wedding. Decorate with black, white and red for a Mickey and Minnie theme. Consider a red and white polka dotted gown for your bridal party. Purple or blue would work for a Donald and Daisy theme. Include a variety of classic characters with a black and white color scheme with individual complementary colors at the tables. For example, a Winnie the Pooh table would include red or a honeypot.

    A Disney Compilation

    • Put together a compilation of your favorite Disney princesses and princes for a general fairy tale wedding. Use colors that are common to most of the stories or will work with any of the colors, such as white and silver or gold. Choose an extravagant princess gown for the bride and allow each bride's maid to dress as her favorite Disney princess, such as Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty or Tiana.

Decorate each table to honor a particular story. A "Cinderella" table might include a pumpkin carriage or Prince Charming's castle- the "Beauty and the Beast" table could include a large rose inside of glass with a tea pot and teacup. A "Princess and The Frog" table could include a figurine of the Tiana kissing a frog with a crown or a jazz band.
