A checklist for the month before a wedding

A checklist for the month before a wedding

It's interesting:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I shall try to be brief. I do have a habit of rambling with my speeches, so you might feel like you've walked into the Oscar ceremony by ..."

No matter how vigilantly you've been planning the details of your wedding day, the last month before the ceremony is suddenly packed with dozens of important preparations. By keeping a checklist and staying on track, the month before your wedding can be filled with excitement and anticipation instead of panic.

  1. Venue

    • During the last month before the wedding, call the managers at the ceremony venue and reception venue to ensure that the big day will proceed without a problem. Check that the date and time for your reservations are correct, and double-check parking availability and other details. This is also the time to start figuring out your seating arrangements for the wedding ceremony and the reception, whether you're assigning general tables and areas or specific seats.

    Bridal Couple

    • The month before is the time to make final alterations.

Scheduling a wedding gown fitting is crucial. This is probably your final fitting, so address any concerns at this point. Sit down with your partner and discuss your wedding vows. If you haven't composed or chosen your vows yet, the month before is the time to do so. Finalize the details of your marriage license, including picking up the physical copy or providing any final signatures. Call about your honeymoon reservations to avoid last-minute surprises.

    Vendors

    • It's essential to get in touch with your various vendors, to verify that details are correct (including payments) and that all your services and decor will arrive promptly on your wedding day. If you have a caterer for the reception or rehearsal dinner, verify the time of the dinner and the types of food being served, including alcoholic beverages. Contact the florist, DJ and photographer. If you're managing certain details yourself, this is the time to prepare.

    Guests

    • Take time away from organizing with a wedding shower.

If you haven't received RSVPs or regrets from certain guests, call or email with gentle reminders, in order to have a more accurate headcount. The month before the wedding is usually the appropriate time for your bridal shower, bachelorette party and bachelor party --- remind your maid of honor and best man about their party-planning responsibilities, or plan the events yourself. Draft speeches or toasts for rehearsal dinners and receptions, and field any incoming questions from guests (or assign a willing volunteer to do so).
