Royal blue wedding theme ideas

Royal blue wedding theme ideas

It's interesting:
"Linda and I first met about 18 months ago, when it quickly became clear to me that here was a woman of many attributes - beauty, brains, wisdom and, fortunately for Paul, a disarming love for dumb animals."

Oftentimes the first step in planning your wedding -- aside from finding the love of your life to marry -- is choosing a color palette for your big day. The majority of your wedding revolves around the colors you choose, which makes choosing flowers, cakes and bridesmaid attire difficult if you haven't chosen a color. Royal blue is a universal color used in both elegant, high-end weddings as well as intimate, casual affairs such as beach weddings- once you've chosen royal blue as your color there are a variety of themes you can work with to pull together your wedding.

  1. Royal Blue Themes

    • Royal blue themes are plentiful and each aspect of your wedding is pulled together by this one color. Before you begin shopping for an array of royal blue dé-cor and attire, pull the color together by choosing a theme- it's difficult to create an entirely blue wedding without using accent colors and accessories to accentuate the blue. Consider a nautical theme, perfect for a wedding at your parents' vacation home on the water. Royal blue also makes a royal theme easy to pull off because it is an elegant color- or consider a beach theme for your beach wedding, or use royal blue to create your winter wedding wonderland.

    Wedding Party Attire

    • Now that you know what theme you're going with, choose the appropriate attire. For your beach- or nautical-themed wedding, choose bridesmaids' gowns that are above the knee that work well with the casual elegance of your theme. For your royal-themed wedding, choose long gowns with diamond -- or other stones -- jewelry and matching shoes. For your winter wonderland wedding, put your bridesmaids in gowns with faux-fur wraps in white. For the men, choose khaki pants, blue or white button-down shirts, and royal blue ties for the beach or nautical theme, and tuxes with royal blue ties for the more elegant royal wedding or winter wonderland affair. Put your flower girl in a white dress with a royal blue sash.

    Cakes

    • Your cake is one of the most creative aspects of your royal blue wedding, and there is very little that bakeries cannot do to a cake to make it exactly what you want for your themed wedding. For your nautical wedding, consider using a royal blue and white foundation for your cake with an anchor as an added touch. For your beach wedding, consider asking your baker to make your cake look like a sandcastle or just a regular cake with royal blue fondant and colorful fish, shells and other ocean accents. For a winter wonderland, your cake can have white snowflakes that shimmer under the lights of your reception- consider an ice sculpture to go along with your cake. A royal wedding calls for a royal cake- perhaps a tall, elegant royal blue cake with silver ribbon or gemstones lining the bottom of each layer and your new initials glittering atop the cake.

    Flowers

    • The other most creative aspect of your wedding is your flowers. Your florist is able to create bridal bouquets, centerpieces and aisle dé-cor using royal blue flowers alone or by accenting them with other colors that go with your theme: royal blue and white for your nautical them- royal blue with greens and light blues and tans for your beach wedding- or royal blue and silver for royal or winter wonderland wedding themes. The completed effect will pull together your reception venue. Flower selections are endless- add sparkle to bouquets with rhinestones, choose tall centerpieces with diamonds and pearls dripping from the stems, or choose low, casual flowers to add to white tables covered in candles and sand to go with your beach-themed wedding.
