Cool wedding invitation ideas

It's interesting:
"Best man speech writing put this challenge into sharp relief: You are not a professional comedian (at least we don't think you are), but everyone at that wedding ..."

When you are planning your wedding, you want everything to be unique and special, starting with the invitations you send to guests. Your wedding invitations are the first indication of your wedding's atmosphere. It is important to select invitations that express the tone of the wedding and the personalities of the bride and groom. In other words, you want your wedding invitations to be cool.

  1. Seed Paper

    • Wedding invitations made with seed-embedded paper can subtly express that the couple is earthy and environmentally conscious. The invitation paper has flower seeds embedded in it, and the invitation wording can be printed directly onto the seed paper or printed on a separate, thinner paper and attached over the seed paper. After the wedding, your guests can tear bits of the invitation seed paper off and plant the seeds in a pot or in their gardens. Be sure to include instructions on plant the seed paper with the invitations. Use the seed-embedded theme throughout your wedding for programs, place cards, favors, and thank you notes. You can make seed-embedded paper yourself or hire a craftsman or artist to do it, or you can purchase it through various vendors, for a more refined look.

    Shapes

    • Selecting a differently shaped invitation can make your invitations stand out. A square, long rectangular or specialty die-cut shape invitation will set your wedding apart. A die-cut invitation can reflect the theme of your wedding. For example, a beach wedding invitation may be in the shape of a palm tree, sea shell, umbrella or sandal. Cut outs on your invitations can also add uniqueness and a personal touch, like a round circle, or heart shape, cut out of the front that reveals a photo of the couple.

    Embellishment

    • Embellishments added to your wedding invitations can change an ordinary invitation into extraordinary. Two holes punched in the top with satin or silk ribbon threaded through and tied in a bow adds interest and color to a more formal invitation. Glue pressed flowers, small sea shells, or white sand and glitter lightly around the front edge to emphasis the theme of your wedding. A classy and cool idea for your wedding invitations is to wrap a wide piece of ribbon or lace around the card, then tie it into a bow with a sprig of dried flowers, leaves, or herbs tucked into it.
