How to make gray work for a nautical wedding

make gray work for a nautical wedding

It's interesting:
"August is the month when many folk festivals take place, where the audience stares at a bloke with a microphone and one finger stuck in his ear. In contrast ..."

Nautical-themed weddings often conjure thoughts of navy, red and white. However, gray can be added to the traditional color scheme or take the place of one of the colors if you are set on a gray detail. For example, don't change the theme of your wedding just because you can't imagine your bridesmaids in a dress other than the perfect gray halter gown you found. Mix in the gray and create a nautical-themed wedding that is personalized to reflect you and your fiance.

Things You'll Need

  • Apparel
  • Flowers
  • Linens
  • Centerpiece
  • Cake
  • Favors

Instructions

    • 1

Dress your bridal party in gray or use gray accents. For example, the ladies can wear gray dresses with a navy sash or red dresses with a gray sash. The men can wear gray suits with a blue tie featuring gray anchors.

    • 2

Wrap white and red bouquets with gray ribbons featuring anchor designs.

    • 3

Cover the tables and chairs with gray and navy blue linens. Add a red or white tulle bow on the chairs.

    • 4

Build centerpieces that reflect the nautical theme. For example, fill a glass bowl with gray anchor decorations. Top it off with red, white and blue flowers. Alternatively, tie a gray ribbon around white or ref flowers in lighthouse- or ship-shaped vases or containers. Glass containers with sand, seashells, sea glass and anchors are another option. Sprinkle gray and silver anchor-shaped confetti around the table.

    • 5

Order a cake to be decorated with a lighthouse or ship topper. The cake can have crackers or brown sugar sprinkled on it to resemble the look of sand with a glass bottle holding a model ship with a gray anchor.

    • 6

Place favors in gray tulle circles with ribbon featuring navy blue, red and white patterns, such as red and white striped ribbon with blue anchors.
