Ideas for a lifesize barbie cake

Ideas for a life-size barbie cake

It's interesting:
"They say that a wedding is a sapling that grows into a mighty tree called marriage . Well ... In a way, the jubilation of today's wedding reminds me of the recent ...""

One way to help a Barbie lover celebrate her birthday is to use actual Barbie dolls to make the birthday cake itself. This "dresses" the body of the Barbie doll with edible fashion by turning her couture into a very sweet treat. In 2009, a 2,645-pound human-sized Barbie was created to celebrate Barbie's 50th anniversary. This cake featured gold icing and silk, and $50,000 worth of Swarovski crystals. For a smaller budget you take the more miniature ideas used for actual sized Barbies to make a larger, grander statement on a larger doll.

Add this to my Recipe Box.

  1. Princess Barbie

    • For those girls who wish to celebrate their birthday with a princess theme, design your larger Barbie cake with the dresses worn by popular princesses. Use "ruffles" of yellow butter-cream icing to cover chocolate cake, which dresses up a brunette Barbie to recreate "Belle" from "Beauty and the Beast." Use a blonde Barbie and cover a white or yellow cake in a blue ballgown design with silver accents to recreate "Cinderella."

    Bridal Barbie

    • Celebrate the upcoming nuptials for a timeless Barbie fan with bridal themes reflected from pop culture, or craft a full ballroom bridal gown to the design of the bride herself, using a human-sized Barbie who shares the same eye or hair color as the blushing bride. For a bridal shower you may even decide to use the bride's color palette from the wedding, incorporating her wedding colors into the accents of the dress.

    Young Barbie

    • A smaller actual-sized Barbie option includes dolls that are the size of children. Use these dolls for cakes that help celebrate birthday parties for your younger girls. Dress them in similar dresses as a theme costume party where all the children dress up for the occasion. Use the birthday girl's favorite color to ice on the dress, and make it as glittery and fancy, or simple and elegant, as the recipient herself.

    Barbie Torso

    • Perhaps you cannot find a life-size Barbie complete with legs. Use the torso and arms to develop a whimsical design around as a cake base. These themes can range anywhere from fanciful to more outrageous, depending on the occasion you may be celebrating. This can be a mermaid design, where you cover the torso with seashells made out of fondant, then create the fins out of cake. You may also choose an "Alice in Wonderland" theme similar to the 1980s music video by Tom Petty.
