   Prouty-Chew House

   • Geneva has well-preserved examples of Federal, Greek Revival, Jeffersonian and Victorian architecture. Visit Prouty-Chew to inspect the 1829 Federal era residence and furnishings. Federal architecture features symmetry, rounded fanlight over the door, balustrades and oval or circular rooms. The style introduced double-hung sash windows which are seen at the Prouty-Chew. This is the home of the Geneva Historical Society and archive library. Inquire about the walking tour of South Main Street. The self-guided tour showcases 50 examples of architecture.    Seneca Lake State Park

   • Water is the main attraction at this day-use state park sitting on the north end of Seneca Lake. Swim, boat or fish on the scenic lake. Picnic and hike along the nature trails. Bicycle throughout the park. A big summertime attraction is the sprayground, a playground of 100 water jets randomly spraying water where kids of all ages can play. In the frozen months, ice fish or cross country ski in the park.

   Johnston Farm

   • If you like truly unusual attractions, visit Johnston Farm. Scottish immigrant John Johnston introduced drainage tiles to the nation in 1838. He had them made for his farm, which had underground springs, but wrote and spoke about them to farmers everywhere. He eventually became known as the "Father of Tile Drainage," and revolutionized American agriculture. Tour his home, farm and adjoining museum displaying tiles dating to 500 B.C.
