Japanese wedding ideas

Japanese wedding ideas

It's interesting:
"To both sets of parents * To the bride groom * For being chosen as best man. Congratulatory remarks about the wedding. Beautiful bride * Wonderful occasion ..."

Whether you or your future spouse is Japanese or you simply enjoy Japanese culture, give your wedding a Japanese theme or use various Japanese elements throughout your big day. The details both big and small can reflect the Asian flair you enjoy. Participate in Japanese traditions on your big day as well.

  1. Decorations

    • Maintain a Japanese wedding theme throughout your wedding day with Asia-inspired decorations. Red and gold are considered celebratory colors in the Asian cultures. Stick with these traditional colors or choose a color scheme that suits the season, destination or your favorite color combination. Hang paper parasols or lanterns from the ceiling in an indoor wedding or from trees or arches in an outdoor wedding. Use Japanese koi fish in water-filled vases as table centerpieces. Create a Zen atmosphere with a water feature that holds river stones and Asian lilies.

    Favors

    • Give your wedding guests Asia-inspired favors to show your appreciation. Select decorative items like paper lanterns, cherry blossom candles, bamboo plants, Japanese cranes or a wooden elephant. Useful wedding favors include silk hand fans, cherry blossom glass coasters, fortune cookie key chains, engraved wooden chopsticks, fortune cookie keepsake boxes, bamboo picture frames or a Japanese white sake cup. Edible favor ideas include Japanese drop tea or chocolate-covered fortune cookies. The favors can be personalized with your names, wedding date or a short message. This information can be imprinted on the gift or added onto an attached gift tag.

    Flowers

    • Display Japanese-style flowers on your wedding day. Choose from orchids, cherry blossoms, lotus blossoms, calla lilies or even bamboo plants. Use the flowers for boutonnieres, corsages, floral centerpieces or as petals to be scattered down an aisle or on tables. Additionally, the bride or bridesmaids can add flowers to a hairstyle as an accent piece. When creating a floral centerpiece, place the flowers in a clear glass vase, Japanese takeout box or a wide vase meant for floating flower heads.

    Sake

    • Participate in the traditional Japanese wedding ceremony custom of sharing sake as a couple. You and your new spouse each take three sips of sake at the end of your wedding ceremony, from three separate cups of different sizes. You first drink from the smallest cup and follow each additional sip with a larger cup. Both your family and your spouse's family should also drink the sake. This old tradition is called San San Ku Do, which translates to "three sets of three sips equals nine." It symbolizes the joining of the bride and groom as well as the two families.
