Places to have a wedding in long island, new york

It's interesting:
"There's something special about a church wedding, but most of us here have to admit that we rarely set foot inside a church these days. In fact ..."

Located southeast of New York City, Long Island is composed of Nassau and Suffolk Counties and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Full of charming light houses, sandy beaches, elegant vineyards and historic mansions in close proximity to the city, it is no wonder this setting is a year-round top U.S. wedding destination. It is home to hundreds of venues that range in price from moderate and beautiful to fairy tale and more expensive than the average American's annual income.

  1. Country Clubs

    • Long Island's country clubs are surprisingly reasonable, especially as many of them have all-inclusive wedding packages. The Mansion at the Timber Point in Great River faces the Great South Bay. The facility features on-site catering and outdoor and inside accommodations for up to 270 people. Smithtown Landing Country Club in Smithtown overlooks Nissequogue River and has three separate facilities available per wedding. An award-winning chef is on site, which accommodates 40 to 200 guests at a time. Swan Club in Roslyn is one of the oldest country clubs in the area. It dates to 1600 and is home to gardens, bridges and ponds inhibited by a variety of birds. The interior is full of elegant fireplaces and chandlers. The indoor and outdoor facilities accommodate 40 to 250 people.

    Mansions

    • The old walls of the Long Island historic mansions hold pieces of American history that date to as early as the 17th century. Bourne Mansion in Oakdale was the location of Consuela Vanderbilt's 1895 wedding to the Duke of Marlborough. The facility accommodations for 300 to 400 people include elegant ballrooms and dining areas, as well as outdoor gardens. Chateau at Coindre Hall in Huntington is a 40-room medieval French styled building dating to 1912 and accommodates 200 guests. The facility includes on-site catering, a terrace and courtyard, as well as indoor ballrooms. Westbury Manor in Westbury was built in 1901. The grounds are full of fountains and waterfalls, complete with peacocks and ducks. The facilities and on-site catering can accommodate 450 people.

    Beach and Waterfronts

    • Surrounded on all sides by the Atlantic Ocean, Long Island is perfect for summer beach weddings. Dering Harbor at Shelter Island overlooks it name sake. This cluster of villas and suites has an on-site tennis court, saltwater pool and dock over the water. The location accommodates 275 to 400 people. Pavilion at Sunken Meadow in Kings Park is near the boardwalk overlooking Long Island Sound. With on-site catering, the site accommodates 300 indoor or outdoor wedding guests. Land's End in Sayville overlooks Great South Bay. The ballroom and on-site catering can accommodate 320 people.

    Hotels and Destinations

    • Hotel weddings allow the bride and groom the opportunity to create an elegant ceremony and honeymoon experience without having to pay for each separately. Three Village Inn at Stony Brook Harbor overlooks its namesake and several colonial themed gardens. Only one wedding occurs a day, allowing for full use of the facilities. Fox Hollow in Woodbury is an English-style country estate that is also a restaurant and catering facility, accommodating 300 guests. The location features fireplaces, ballrooms and bridal suites, as well as eight acres of gardens complete with fountains and pavilions. Southampton Inn in Southampton can accommodate 600 guests for a rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception. This inn is also a restaurant and catering company.
