The Carolinas comprise of North Carolina and South Carolina and these states provide mountainous and beach scenery for wedding ceremonies. As part of the original American colonies, both states also features historic plantation homes and city houses for indoor ceremonies and receptions. Most of the wedding venues in the Carolinas offer on-site catering. Some of the venues are hotels, which offers bridal suites and rooms for out-of-town wedding guests.

  1. Grand Strand

    • The Brunswick Plantation and Golf Resort is on the northern tip of the Grand Strand in Calabash, North Carolina. This resort hosts weddings in a Southern plantation style setting. The wedding ceremonies and receptions occur in the resort's clubhouse, which offers views of the 27-hole golf course. The resort has an on-staff wedding coordinator and a catering service.

      Situated in North Myrtle Beach, the Wedding Chapel by the Sea is an intimate venue on the Atlantic Coastline. This venue hosts beachside weddings and two chapels for indoor ceremonies, the Ivory Chapel and Blue Chapel. Both chapels have reception rooms. Chapel by the Sea has an on-staff wedding coordinator.

    Mountains

    • Miss Caroline's Country Wedding Chapel is in the heart of North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains. This Maggie Valley venue has been in service since 1992 and features three sites for ceremonies: the chapel, garden with waterfall and a gazebo. The "Diamond Wedding Package" includes a unity candle, bouquets for the maid-of-honor and bride and wedding DVD. The venue offers honeymoon cabins.

      Blowing Rock is home to the Meadowbrook Inn, which hosts weddings in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This hotel offers sites for outdoor weddings, including a gazebo, the Terrace Area and patio. Meadowbrook employs a wedding coordinator and catering staff. The hotel accommodates up to 250 guest for ceremonies and receptions.

    Charlotte

    • St. Mary's Chapel is in the heart of downtown Charlotte's Thompson Park. This wedding venue accommodates up to 100 people for ceremonies. Discounts for the chapel are available for Charlotte residents. Rental times come in blocks of three hours and 45 minutes. The chapel does not facilitate receptions, but it does offer couples a list of recommended vendors.

      Situated in southern Charlotte, the Duke Mansion hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions in a historic 1915 house- the house is in the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel has over 4 acres of gardens for outdoor ceremonies and reception space is available in the hotel- the seating capacity at Duke Mansion for receptions is 150 guests.

    Charleston

    • The historic Lowndes Grove Plantation was built in 1786 and features 14 acres on the Ashley River. The acreage offers gardens for outdoor weddings. Indoor ceremony spaces include the hotel's formal dining room and second-floor outdoor piazza, which overlooks the estate. The hotel has bridal suites with antique furniture and living rooms.

      Built in 1850, the Wickcliffe House is a historic site in downtown Charleston. Each room in this Greek Revival-style house features antique artwork, crystal chandeliers and elegant furnishings. The house has a banquet seating capacity of 160, while stand-up receptions allow for 300 guests. The Wickcliffe House outsources catering to Mediterra Catering.
