How to word a marriage wedding announcement

word a marriage & wedding announcement

It's interesting:
"Charles Dickens said a measure of a woman’s love for her man was the lengths to which she was prepared to go to make him happy. If this holds true, then Linda, you have reached that goal, for Paul is the happiest I have ever seen him."

A wedding or marriage announcement is different from a wedding invitation in that it is mailed to friends, family and colleagues after you have been married, or on the day of, to share the news. This is meant for mailing to people who were not invited to the actual wedding but who are still important in your lives. It is similar to a newspaper announcement, stating your names and when and where you got married. Follow a professional wording format for this formal announcement, similar to the wording of your wedding invitations.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer or writing utensil

Instructions

    • 1

Write the full names of the bride (use maiden name) and the groom if they hosted the wedding --- for example, "Sarah Marie Smith and John Lucas Johnson." Write the full names of the bride's parents or the groom's parents if they hosted the wedding ---for example, "Mr. and Mrs. Doug and Lisa Smith."

    • 2

Write the announcement. If the bride and groom are announcing the marriage, write, "announce their marriage." If the parents are announcing it, write, "have the honor to announce the marriage of their daughter" (or "of their children" if using both the bride's and groom's parents). You would then list the bride's and groom's names (if announced by parents only).

    • 3

Add the formal date of the wedding. Spell everything out. Include the day of the week, the date and month, followed by the year.

    • 4

Write the location of the wedding ceremony. This includes the name of the church, courthouse or other location.

    • 5

Include the city and state of the wedding.
