Cocktail party theme ideas

Cocktail party theme ideas

It's interesting:
"Just as the happy couple wanted, this is a lovely, small, intimate gathering of close friends and family – so could someone please tell me why I'm here."

Cocktail parties are reserved solely for adults and those over the age of 21 because of the alcoholic drinks served. The parties are usually elegant affairs, held at night. It's also a simple way to treat your guests to an unexpected party because the idea has a somewhat retro feel. When you decide to throw a cocktail party, make your party different by giving it a theme.

Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Cupcakes and Cocktails Party

    • Throw a cocktail party that also uses cupcakes. Arrange wine glasses and martini glasses around the party, placing a cupcake inside each one. Make your own cupcakes that utilize alcohol in the batter. A simple chocolate cupcake with a dark beer is one idea, as is a margarita cupcake that uses lime and tequila in the batter. Mix and match different types of cupcakes with different types of cocktails. If you use sweet cupcakes, serve with spicy or herbed drinks. If you're using overly sweet drinks, such as frozen fruit drinks, then add a few less sweet cupcakes. A vanilla or chocolate cupcake with a basic cream cheese frosting, without too much sugar, is a nice compliment to those sweet drinks.

    Make Your Own Cocktail

    • Treat guests to a cocktail bar, where the theme is make your own cocktail. Provide guests with a wide range of alcohol, including gin, vodka and rum. Bitters and other items used to flavor the cocktails, such as grenadine, also deserve a spot on the bar. You can also add fresh cut fruit and plenty of ice, which some guests might use to create frozen drinks. Keep a blender on the bar, as well as glasses of different sizes and shapes. Host a contest where guests submit their favorite concoction to the group and they vote on the best. You can even offer awards for the best cocktails of different types, including the best champagne cocktail and best vodka cocktail.

    Retro Cocktail Party

    • Throw a retro cocktail party and ask guests to come dressed in their favorite retro or vintage outfits. Serve the classic martini, the manhattan, white Russians, sidecars and Tom Collins style drinks. Invest in a bartender's guide, which teaches you make the drinks and what type of glass to use for each drink. Serve each drink with a garnish, such as fresh cherries, olives, onions, citrus peels or fruit skewers. Serve with retro appetizers, including spiced nuts and pigs in blankets.
