Best christmas wedding cake decorations

Best christmas wedding cake decorations

It's interesting:
"It was a stipulation for the wedding that the groomsmen weren't allowed to look better than the Best Man today and I'm pleased to say they have accomplished ..."

Christmas weddings can be extra special, because the season of cheer, family time and giving is already in place. Using Christmas as your wedding theme will add a warmth and charm that won't be matched. Give your wedding cake a Christmas theme, and it will stand out as an important part of your decorations.

Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Icing Decorations

    • Fondant can be used to create just about any edible decoration for your wedding cake. Use an all-white stacked cake with white snowflakes, made of frosting, covering the cake.

Stack various sizes of cakes to create a Christmas tree. Use forest green frosting for the base, and embellish with red and gold bulbs, candy canes and a gold star to top it off.

Tiered cakes can be decorated like a stack of Christmas gifts, complete with fondant gold ribbons and a huge bow on the top gift.

Stacked cakes also can be decorated like a snowman or Santa Claus himself. Use red, black and white fondant to create Santa's traditional red outfit, complete with a fur-trimmed hat.

    Flowers & Cake Toppers

    • An elegant choice is to use a traditional white wedding cake decorated with silk or fondant poinsettias. Use pine cones and holly berries to spruce up your Christmas wedding cake.

A gold star, a crystal snowflake or Mr. and Mrs. Claus cake toppers carry the Christmas theme to your wedding cake. Have a custom topper made of you and your groom in your wedding attire, sitting in front of a Christmas tree. Perhaps a chimney with stockings featuring your last name would be fitting.

    Other Ideas

    • Decorate the cake to resemble a gingerbread house with gingerbread people. Use candy to complete the look. Or create an entire Christmas village for your wedding cake, complete with small gingerbread houses, a train, people, little snowmen and snow angels, using small plastic figures. Small plastic Christmas trees and cars will complete the scene. Don't forget to add some children ice skating. White frosting can create a perfect snowy landscape.

Have a battery-operated Christmas train circle the top of your cake, or have a larger train circling the base of your cake. Santa Claus should be the engineer, with helper elves present. Gifts can be flowing out of the train cars.

Another option is to set a tiered cake, decorated like gifts, on a raised platter. Santa can be driving his sleigh in front of the platter. Reindeer would be pulling the sleigh.

Individual cupcakes decorated like snowflakes or Christmas gifts would work in lieu of a cake. Or decorate the cupcakes in plain red or green frosting and top them off with miniature candy canes.
