How to create a free wedding banner

create a free wedding banner

It's interesting:
"I would like to congratulate Paul on his impeccable taste in choosing such a beautiful wife. And Linda, well done on saying “I do” to my mate Paul, because, let’s face it - that must have been hard."

Having a customized wedding banner to display at the reception can add a nice touch for the bride and groom. Enlisting the help of a professional banner-making company can produce great results, but the expensive price tag that generally accompanies such an outsourced product is obviously not for everyone. Thankfully, there are a number of free, do-it-yourself resources that can bring quality results at the right price.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer
  • Graphic editing program
  • Internet connection
  • Paper
  • Printer
  • Glue stick or tape

Instructions

  1. Creating a Free Wedding Banner

    • 1

Open a graphics editing program. You may have an editor already installed on your computer, or you may want to download a relevant piece of software. You can find a number of banner-specific resources online and several general editors that allow for banner-creating, in addition to other graphic design tasks.

    • 2

Create a new file. If you are not using a specific banner template, set the size dimensions of your new file according to the expectations you have for the wedding banner. A height of 8 1/2 inches is convenient for printing, and a length of four or five feet is fairly standard.

    • 3

Insert text and graphics as desired. Taking the bride and groom into consideration, and the theme of the reception at large, carefully choose fonts, sayings, and graphics that will appropriately match the intended atmosphere. Decide if the banner will say something more than "Congratulations to Steve and Cassie," contain more graphics than free wedding bell clipart, and so on. Organize the layout, balancing creativity and readability.

    • 4

Print the completed banner once you have finished the designing process. Using a thicker paper like cardstock over regular copier paper for printing is advisable.

    • 5

Assemble the printed pages. Generally, printing out a banner on your own computer will require gluing or taping together the various pages, carefully aligning the set of papers and trimming edges as necessary.

Tips &- Warnings

  • If your completed banner is flimsier than you had hoped, you can additionally attach sections of poster board to the back of your printed creation.

  • After you have finished designing the banner, make sure to save your file. Bypassing the save function in hopes that the printing will immediately be successful can cause undesired results if any problems arise.
