How to be a frank sinatra impersonator

be a frank sinatra impersonator

It's interesting:
"Charles Dickens said a measure of a woman’s love for her man was the lengths to which she was prepared to go to make him happy. If this holds true, then Linda, you have reached that goal, for Paul is the happiest I have ever seen him."

Ol' Blue Eyes, The Chairman of the Board, La Voz. Who wouldn't want to be Frank Sinatra? He was the essence of cool, a member of the celebrated Rat Pack and involved with some of the most beautiful women in the world. If you work hard on your impression, maybe some of Frank's charisma will rub off on you.

Things You'll Need

  • Suit
  • Fedora

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a nice, dark suit. Frank Sinatra almost always wore suits in public, with gold cufflinks flashing and a white linen handkerchief tucked in his breast pocket. On many of his albums, he wears a fedora, cocked at a jaunty angle.

    • 2

Do some research. Frank Sinatra was a member of the Rat Pack, and the members included Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Peter Lawford, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and Shirley McLaine. After leaving his first wife Nancy, he was married to Ava Gardner, Mia Farrow and Barbra Marx.

    • 3

Familiarize yourself with Sinatra's songbook collection. There are numerous songs to choose from, but some staples in your Frank Sinatra repertoire should include, "All of Me," "My Way," "Strangers in the Night," "Fly Me to the Moon" and "Love and Marriage."

    • 4

When you sing, stand straight, but nonchalant, with your shoulders slightly hunched. Lean slightly forward on certain key phrases. Maintain eye contact with the audience. Make with the lighthearted patter between songs. You might drop some signature Sinatra phrases like "Ring-a-ding-ding" and "It's a gasser."

    • 5

Practice. Not only will you need to memorize many of Frank Sinatra's songs, but you'll need to sound like him and impersonate his stage presence and mannerisms. Sinatra is one of the most well known musicians in the world, so you'll need lots of practice to make your impersonation credible.

    • 6

Create a name for your act. Try a variation of one of Sinatra's nicknames (Ol' Blue Eyes, The Chairman of the Board) or borrow from one of his songs.

    • 7

List your act on a website such as Gig Salad or Gig Masters to start booking gigs for yourself.
