The hotels in sea ranch, california
It's interesting:"Tradition decrees that the best man responds to the toast to the bridesmaids and I am happy to be asked to do so. Like everything else about this wedding they were perfection itself."
One of the first eco communities in the United States, Sea Ranch was designed to "live lightly on the land." This rugged 10-mile area situated in Sonoma County, about 100 miles north of the San Francisco area, features unique homes that blend in with the bluffs, hillsides and meadows of California's coastal region.
Although anyone may enjoy the five public beaches, Sea Ranch roads are completely private. Only residents or guests staying at the official hotel or renting a private house here may access the roads or most of the trails and facilities.
Sea Ranch Lodge
Surrounded by redwood groves, grassy bluffs and bluff-top ocean views, the cedar and redwood, pet-friendly Sea Ranch Lodge features 20 over-sized rooms, a gift shop, restaurant and bar.
Guests may choose between three distinct rooms: Deluxe Ocean View, Panoramic Ocean View, and Hot Tub Garden/Ocean View. Some have fireplaces while others have separate sleeping areas, so inquire when making your reservations. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning in the dining room.
The Breakers Inn
Rated by "Sunset Travel Guide" as a 2010 California Travel Deal, each room at The Breakers features a regional theme and most have an ocean-view balcony. The hotel serves a "healthy breakfast" each morning in the lobby, welcomes pets and offers rooms ranging from partial to luxury oceanfront.
All rooms have radiant floor heat, glass corner fireplaces, televisions and DVD players and microwaves. Most have wet bars and whirlpool spas. For guests wishing to stay in Sea Ranch itself, The Breakers also offers a separate, spacious oceanfront home featuring three fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen and accommodations for up to six people.
Gualala Country Inn
Just across the Gualala River from Sea Ranch, the pet-friendly Gualala Country Inn offers rooms with views of either the Pacific Ocean and/or the river. Although guests may not use the private roads in Sea Ranch itself, from this hotel they can enjoy a good vantage point to see the fall and spring migration of California gray whales.
A complimentary continental breakfast is served in the parlor each morning, and all rooms feature fireplaces and cable television.
Seacliff on the Bluff
Also across the Gualala River from Sea Ranch, this Seacliff sits atop a bluff showing views of sea lions in the sunrise and steelhead trout returning to spawn each winter. In the spring and fall, the California gray whales shed their barnacles on the nearby sandbar.
This hotel does not allow pets. All rooms feature private decks with an ocean views, two-person whirlpool spas, fireplaces, microwaves and binoculars for viewing wildlife. Guests are greeted with chocolates and sparkling cider.
