The Glam Live Rock Fashion Show is a rock and roll-themed installment of the Glam Live series of fashion and bodypainting shows. It took place on February 12, 2009 at the Double Door rock club in Chicago, Ill., produced by Windy City Media.

1. Significance

   • Glam Live is a mobile, interactive, weekly fashion show that features live runway models and audience members wearing current fashion, hairstyles and jewelery by local stylists, and body paint by the Mario Ink bodypainting studio. Audience members can act as models, and photographers document everything on-site.

   History

   • Glam Live Rock is one of the themed parties in the Glam Live fashion show series, which was launched in 2005 at Sugar Nightclub in Chicago. Hosted by Chicago production company Windy City Media, it is designed to raise awareness and funds for the Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization, Illinois Affiliate. Since then, the series has migrated to different venues around Chicago, and toured nationally to cities including Los Angeles, Scottsdale and Las Vegas.

   Features

   • Glam Live Rock shows, out of all the Glam Live shows, have the most rock 'n' roll-oriented focus, featuring a live rock band playing during the show, and models wearing edgy black and neon-colored body paint, glam-rock-style makeup and fashion looks featuring leather, rhinestones and feathers. Previous Glam Live Rock shows took place at Chicago clubs The Metro and Myst.

   Types

   • Besides the Glam Live Rock Fashion Show theme, each of the Glam Live shows are themed. The runway models dressed in crystallized body paint, for instance for the "Crystal Iced" theme, or red and green tinsel for the December 2008 theme, "The Nightmare Before Xmas." Other themes from 2009, besides the Rock theme, include Hello Kitty, Neon Barbie, Fantasy Nights, The Rose Party, Crystal Iced and Sweet Surrender.

   Potential

   • The Glam Live fashion show series will continue in 2010- however, as of December 2009, Windy City Media has not yet announced its themes or schedule.
