How do i obtain a license to officiate a marriage in sacramento county?
It's interesting:"The best man at my own wedding told me that one and it worked - for 15 years anyway, before she left me for someone short, fat and balding, who happened to ..."
Being asked to officiate a wedding is a great honor. Sacramento County, California, is one of the easiest places to get a temporary license to officiate a wedding. In California, this is called a "One-Time Deputy Marriage Commissioner License," and it allows you to officiate a single, predesignated ceremony. The process to get this license is rather simple, but you must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen to be approved.
Instructions
1
Print out the "One-Time Deputy Marriage Commissioner" application from the Sacramento County Internal Services Agency website. You can find this application form on the website, or you could go in person to the Sacramento County Clerk's Office.
2
Fill out the application. At least one party on the application (either you or the couple you are marrying) must reside in Sacramento County. Fax it or mail it back to the County Clerks Office. The fax number and address are both listed on the application.
3
Schedule an appointment to appear in the office and be deputized. After your application is received, you will be contacted by phone to schedule an appointment. When you appear in the office you are required to pay a fee. As of 2010, this fee is $43.
Tips &- Warnings
This license is only good for one marriage. If you wish to perform multiple marriages, you will have to either be ordained or receive separate "One-Time Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriage" licenses for each marriage.
Be sure to bring an ID or driver's license with you to prove your identity.
