Guide to making a wedding reception program

Wedding receptions are commonly considered to be the celebration segment of a wedding. However, that does not mean that it has no structure. The reception is merely the second half of the wedding. Therefore, making a clear wedding reception program can give guests a clear idea of what to expect throughout the course of the night. This program can be something of an itinerary to let people know when the best time to get up and walk around is, and when they should stay put so they don't miss anything.

      Select the design of the program. You can use something as simple as a sheet of paper or get really elegant with sheets of Egyptian parchment or Roman scrolls. The paper you use is completely up to you, it just may reflect different prices. Just keep the program on theme with the rest of the wedding.

      Include the basic information of the wedding as sort of a recap. Include the names of the bride and groom as well as the wedding party, just so guests can remember who is who.

      Include the list of the different activities that will be happening and the order in which they will. Dinner should be first so that no one gets cranky with hunger. Then, include dances, cutting of the cake, specific music and speeches. List events in order, but keep it flexible. If you have to change things around, your guests will understand. Get married to the bride or groom, not the itinerary.

      Thank the guests of the reception at the bottom of the program and indicate where presents can be left.

      Print the program. If you are using a specialized type of paper, take it to a local professional printer, so that you don't damage the paper or leave out any information.
