Chicago suburb attractions

It's interesting:

If you have some extra time on your next Chicago trip, venture outside the city to check out some interesting attractions in the suburbs. You might not usually consider the suburbs as destinations for either nature or architectural interest, but Chicago's suburbs offer some things worth checking out in both of these areas.

  1. Chicago Botanic Garden

    • The Chicago Botanic Garden sits on 385 acres of greenery in the suburb of Glencoe. You can take a wheelchair-accessible tram tour around the perimeter or grab a map and stroll through any of the themed gardens on your own. Visit the Aquatic Garden, the Bonsai Collection- the Greenhouses- the Japanese Garden- the English Walled Garden- Evening Island- the Fruit and Vegetable Garden or the Enabling Garden which demonstrates methods of accessible gardening. Check the Garden's website or call before you visit to see if you can attend one of the many special events they offer like the Heirloom Tomato Weekend or the Kite Festival.
