Do it yourself vellum overlay wedding programs

Do it yourself vellum overlay wedding programs

It's interesting:
"Tom looks great on his wedding day doesn't he? I won't say it's funny to see ... Congratulations to Tom and Susan on their wedding. And since it's election week ..."

Vellum wedding programs add a touch of sophisticated grace and style to the wedding stationary. They are versatile and can be designed to match any bridal theme and come in array of colors and textures. Online professional versions of vellum wedding programs are selling for as much as $250 for 200 programs. Saving money is simple by making these beautiful programs at home with art supplies found at local craft and paper supply stores.

Things You'll Need

  • Card stock paper
  • Vellum paper
  • Ribbon
  • Paper trimmer
  • Hole punch
  • Computer with printer
  • Card making software

Instructions

    • 1

Open the card making software on your computer. Set up the size and desired opening fold of the card as you would like your finished program to appear.

    • 2

Type the name of the bride and groom on the front page along with the date, time and place of the event. A photo or clip art image may also be added. These fonts should be in bold print so that they show through the vellum once the finished project is laid out.

    • 3

Add the bridal party names to the left inside fold of the program. At the top of the page introduce the parents of the bride and groom first, followed by the by the grandparents if desired. Then list the bridal party starting with maid of honor and bride's maids then moving to the best man and groomsmen.

    • 4

List the events in the order in which they will take place on the right hand side of the fold. Include the names of parties not already mentioned such as clergy, musicians and special speakers beside their event.

    • 5

Design the back cover with a special thanks section, poem or photo of the bride and groom. If a wedding planner or photographer was used in the wedding his name can be mentioned here. Make the type bold so that it will show through the vellum on the finished project.

    • 6

Print the program that you have designed.

    • 7

Trim the program on a paper trimmer to the desired size. Trim the vellum paper to the same size as the program so that it lays perfectly overtop of the card.

    • 8

Fold the program and vellum sheets together in half, in a neat and standard fold, making sure the ends meet. Using the hole punch, punch two holes on each side of the fold near the top and bottom of the program spine.

    • 9

Cut the ribbon to your desired length and thread the ribbon ends through the inside fold of the program so that both cut ends hang loosely on the outside spine of the program. Tie the ribbon ends together.
